Adjustments Need Repetition: The S.A.I.D. Principle - Part A

We’re often told that an adjustment works instantly. But what if that’s just a fragment of a bigger truth? The S.A.I.D. Principle – Specific Adaptation to Imposed Demand – reminds us that real change, especially at the level of joint function and neurological tone, doesn’t happen in one miraculous visit.
Key Points:
If a joint has been moving abnormally (or not at all), it requires 'repeated corrections 'to normalise.
The early chiropractic pioneers often saw rapid mechanical improvements — but we live in a different world now.
Today’s patients are under 'chronic chemical, emotional, and postural stress', not just mechanical strain.
A single manipulation can’t reverse *decades of poor posture, poor nutrition, emotional overload, and inactivity'.
We need:
'Confidence' in our motion palpation.
'Patience; in delivering sequential adjustments.
'Clarity' in explaining to patients that they are not machines — they are dynamic beings.
Pain may go quickly. Dysfunction often lingers.
Yours in excellent chiropractic care
