Innate Intelligence and Adjusting with Purpose -Part B

Over the years, the phrase "innate intelligence" has been both revered and ridiculed.
Dismissed by some as philosophical fluff and misinterpreted by others as mystical, it has persisted for over a century because it speaks to something profound: the recognition that the body is not a machine, but a living, adaptive, self-regulating organism.
A Modern View of Innate Intelligence
Let’s remove the dogma.
Innate intelligence is not a spirit. It is not a religious claim.
It is the recognition that:
• Your body regulates temperature without you thinking
• Your immune system adapts without direct instruction
• Your nervous system prioritises, modulates, and self-corrects when given the chance
Chiropractic, at its heart, acknowledges this. It assumes that the body wants to heal — and that our job is to remove what’s interfering with that process.
Why This Matters for Adjusting
When you believe the body can recalibrate, you adjust differently.
You’re not trying to force the spine into shape.
You’re not fixing the patient.
You’re facilitating an internal reset — a return to their logic and tone.
You adjust, and the body takes care of the rest. That is innate intelligence in action.
This Is More Than Philosophy — It’s Clinical Strategy
When you believe in the body’s ability to adapt, you:
• Stop over-adjusting
• Stop chasing symptoms
• Start listening
• Start working with rhythm, breath, and state
You begin to respect the nervous system’s priorities. Some days, it needs less. Other days, it needs nothing at all.
Innate intelligence is not your excuse for inaction — it’s your reminder to adjust with intention.
The Adjustment Is the Invitation
You’re not demanding the body to change — you’re inviting it.
The body accepts when it’s ready. And if your adjustment is delivered with precision, clarity, and trust, it usually is.
